“In Suffering’s Wisdom, George Kinder has written a meditation book that pulls off the impossible, being instantly accessible and at the same time extremely sophisticated, applying meditation to our most mundane moments and habitual behaviors, while on each page appealing to our highest aspirations to lead more joyous and meaningful lives. This is an exceptionally personal book, from a teacher who has truly lived his meditation practice and constantly renewed it with creativity and passion. Every page is an inspiration and a gift. Don’t miss it!”

Transforming Suffering into Wisdom Mindfulness and The Art of Inner Listening edition by George Kinder Religion Spirituality eBooks

I read this on vacation in the mountains of North Carolina, a retreat from my hectic “full-time life” as a psychiatrist.

This book is a secular look at the wisdom of meditative traditions, made more accessible, practical, and ready to be put into action to reduce suffering.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will be giving a copy to each of my children as a gift. I am going to start a meditation group at the mental health clinic where I work and pay this forward to my patients. Many of them who suffer at a level that I see nowhere else but in my work.

Thank you Mr. Kinder for your excellent work reducing suffering in the world. Be assured that it’s ripple effect has been strengthened. Your work and this book are safe harbor in the sea of life’s many storms.

Transforming Suffering into Wisdom Mindfulness and The Art of Inner Listening edition by George Kinder Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

Amazing insight into the nature of emotions and how we can empower ourselves.
Thank you George for another wonderful book. This is essential reading for all Kinder Life Planners and others who want to understand the philosophy of the George Kinder life planning process. I smile as I write this because 5 years ago I would have thought that you were crazy to consider that such a book would be relevant to providing financial advice. However I am now part of a growing number of enlightened people who have learned to appreciate that it is only by understanding yourself and your clients at their deeper level that you can provide meaningful financial advice which is full of integrity and compassion. There is no greater gift that you can experience than being with your client in the present moment.

While the book is a `good read' it is essentially a book for taking action. It is an easy to follow guide to meditation and inner listening that all readers will benefit from.
This is a book about how to transform suffering into wisdom. It is actually a "how-to" approach. Very well written and deeply spiritual. I felt involved and motivated as soon as I started reading it. Inspiration from a wise teacher. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is not "using" their human suffering very well.
I like the work of George Kinder. I bumped on this book via a Life Planner. I enjoyed the read from beginning to end. Three simple principles but not so easy to integrate ... anyhow, the book gave me another push towards more wisdom and less suffering.
For those who don't know, George Kinder is a best-selling author and spiritual leader in the field of financial life planning. A key to his success has been his ability to help people focus not on maximizing profits, but on maximizing what is really important in life. How do you do that ? Well, first you have to figure out what is really important. In this book, George lays out much more fully the inner path that he has followed to find happiness in his own life, and to teach others to do the same. As a student of George's for several years, I can attest to his unparalleled ability to speak directly to people, and not at them. I recommend that you do not miss this chance to learn from one of the greatest spiritual teachers around.
My first exposure to George Kinder's writings were in the world of financial planning. I wasn't more than one chapter into his Seven Stages of Money Maturity book before I decided that here was someone who looked at the world, finances, and others in the same way I did. That was the outworking of an internal value system. But what was that value system?

Transforming Suffering into Wisdom explains it all. And it is simple, straight-forward and totally logical. While reading I took my time, enjoying and re-reading portions, underlining and starring. I've been practicing meditation for a while and find Kinder's three intentions to incorporate the essentials of realigning life in a very practical way. If you're trying to transform the outer life to match the inner life, this book will help you move in that direction. Kinder speaks about living your passion and finding a job to do or a career to develop that allows you to live this passion. Work then becomes play and no one needs to retire from play!

I have only purchased two books both in paper and in the version. Transforming Suffering into Wisdom is one of them. Paper for the bibliophile in me and for having it with me all the time! This book would be good for an entry into the realm of meditation and its benefits and also for a fresh perspective for someone very familiar with meditation.
This is a first rate piece of work. I have been practicing the Buddha's teachings for six years. This work summarizes the practice to tame our thinking habits which up to now have caused us immense internal pain and suffering. It is not voodoo; rather it is simple and, rid of "religious trappings", will enable anyone who conscientiously follows Mr Kinder's teaching to attain internal peace. For those who might be interested in further Buddhist practice, it is an excellent introduction. If you are not interested in Buddhist practice, this book nonetheless provides real, positive help.
